Hard Wicket Upgrade Complete

The much needed upgrade to our hard wicket nets has been completed. The new facility will provide a fanatastic coaching venue for all our club to use. The facility has 3 new hard wickets, drop down net at the rear to help maintain the cricket balls, pull out nets, longer run up for fast bowlers, an over hanging net to restrict the balls being hit out of the net and they are fully lockerable.

The club wishes to thank the Department of Recreation and Sport, City of Onkaparinga and the South Australian Cricket Association for supporting the upgrade in the facility.

The club would also like to thank club members who have contributed to the completion of the project. Senior players including Nick Bowen, Scott Heywood, Shaun Tanner, Corey McIvor, Deon Laubscher plus club committee member Paul Charman. We also thank juniors and their parents who have assisted in watering and general clean up of the area.

The club has invested significant funds into the upgrade and we expect that the facility to be respected by all that use it.

The practice wickets are a shop front to our club for new junior members and we believe the upgrade will provide a professional look to our club as well as serve our cricketers and coaches well.

2011 Ray Sutton Squad Named

After a significant talent identification process which commenced in February this year and then followed by the 10 week Gary Putland Youth Cricket Academy skill development program the club has named a squad of 15 players. The players will represent the club against other Grade Cricket Clubs in the Ray Sutton pre-Christmas competition.

The coaching staff have been impressed by all players who have been involved in the GPYCA, their attitude and willingness to learn was outstanding.

Because of this impressive outcome all players are invited to attend the Southern District Cricket Club Under 14 trainings commencing at Bice Oval on Monday September 19th and Wednesday the 21st to continue your cricket development.

The Ray Sutton Squad for season 2011-12 is
Ben Layton
Tyson Levy
Tom Murphy
Quinn Thurtell
Ethan Alderman
Nick Scanlan
Sam Whitebread
Ryan Jefferies
Darcy Sharp
Oli Douglas
Nick Dowling
Liam Coleman
Bill Northhill
Josh Neiderer
Zed Zurek

For those players who have missed the Ray Sutton team bad luck, as mentioned it is not the end of your cricket it is just the start, the club looks forward to working with you to help you develop your cricket. For the younger players there is the SACA Under 12 Cup Carnival later this year.

Good luck to all players.
