Setting the Breakers 265 for victory, the Scorpions got their first breakthrough in the tenth over when Haynes was run out by Lauren Ebsary for 15.

Pressure bowling from Sarah Coyte (1/24) and Megan Schutt (1/45) led to the dismissal of Breakers captain Alex Blackwell (6) who was also run out, and when Alyssa Healy fell to former teammate Coyte, the Scorpions were well and truly in the game.

Ellyse Perry (20) and Nicola Carey (32) both got starts as they looked to get their side back on track, but it was too no avail as continued pressure led to their dismissals.

Terrific late hitting to Naomi Stalenberg (58 from 38) gave the Breakers hope, but when she fell it was all but over for the home side; the Scorpions finishing off the tail and claiming their first national title since 1994/95.
Earlier in the day the Scorpions won the toss and elected to bat first in a replay of last year’s final.

The loss of Tegan McPharlin (4) early did little to hinder the Scorpions, as Sarah Taylor joined Bridget Patterson at the crease.

Taylor was in great form early, racing to 50 off just 47 balls and continued to find boundaries with ease on her way to a blistering 110 (106 balls).

Patterson, 20, showed great maturity and grit at the other end, compiling 74 runs of her own and combined with Taylor for a 181-run partnership.

Youngster Lauren Cheatle (2/44) and Lauren Marsh (2/41) were the multiple wicket-takers for the Breakers.
