Senior Results round 1

Round 1 saw a great win for the A grade and some good signs in all other grades.

The A grade were chasing 291 at Bice and after losing an early wicket Josh Barrett and Brendan McCormack combined for an A grade record partnership of 289. Josh scoring his first A grade century and batting the entire day to finish 165 not out from 281 balls. It was a pleasure to watch and hopefully the first of many for Josh. The day ended with the stingrays at 5/340 a win
and plenty of confidence heading into round 2

The B grade having already lost on day one fought back on the second day making 6/225 with the bat before falling 2 wickets short of an outright victory. Justin Ifold and Alex Cournelius making 50's while Tom Cotter-Gilles took three second innings wickets. Hopefully this will transition into a good first innings display next week.

The C Grade were chasing 250 and never got the innings going being bowled out for 155. Rhys Barrett the best with the bat with 44.

The D grade were trying to stave off an outright loss on the second day and fell short of their target of batting out the day. They were all out for 151 with Pushpinder Singh making 51 and Brad Samarcq 59.

We play East Torrens this week so let's make sure we get out to training and work hard so we can get four wins next round

Results Week One Vs University

Week one of round one saw a tough start to the season for all four senior men's teams.

The A grade lost the toss and were in the field to start the year and started in fantastic fashion with Huw Stone extracting some movement with the new ball picking up three wickets in the first session. The Stingrays were in a good position with University at 5/90 but couldn't land a killer blow and a big partnership saw the runs pile on in the last session with University finishing the day at 9/291. Huw Stone was the pick of the bowlers with 4/72 from 25 overs and a shout out to Tom Hynes who took his first A grade wicket. A big challenge next week that hopefully we can rise to.

The B grade lost the toss and were sent in, in very tough conditions. Unfortunately the innings never got going and they were bowled out for 71 with University at 5/101 in reply.

The C Grade Won the toss and had a bowl first at the High School. A pretty even day saw Uni reach 9/250 from their 80 overs. The best with the ball was Jason Samarcq who took 3/14 from 10 overs. A good batting performance next week will give us every chance of chasing down this target

It was a day to forget for the D Grade as they were sent in and after being 2/35 were bowled out for 47. Uni are 6/228 in reply and hopefully we can be better with the bat second time around next week.

I will send out another reminder later in the week but please make every effort to get back to the club for presentations and a meal this Saturday. There were some good results in the juniors including a big Century so lets make sure we get along and support the club.

Senior Cricket underway this weekend

As everyone is well aware the season kicks off against University this weekend. After a long tough pre season of many Sunday trainings and fitness sessions we are ready to hit the ground running. Team selections will take place tonight and there will be meals available at the club following training.

It is vitally important that we start the season well and putting performances on the board is the best way to stamp your name for promotion throughout the grades. Performances in round one will normally kick-start your season and get you into fantastic form.
Please make every effort to get to training and then back into the club for selections and a meal.

Now is also a great time to let everyone know that we will be trying to get as many people to the club as possible for Round 1 presentations. These will be held at the club and there will be meals available and the bar will be open. This will be October 24th after the completion of round 1.
