Southern District were looking for early success after finishing 5th and just missing out on finals last season. However, early wickets saw the the Stingrays in trouble at 6/35. Barrett came to the crease with some resolve, he showed composure and experience beyond his years by compiling a well fought out 71 from 165 deliveries. Matthew Sugg who made an important 79 and helped the Stingrays finish with 9/211. Josh influence the match further, but this time standing behind the stumps. The promising keeper-batsman took three catches.
