Senior Presentation Evening

The Senior Men's presentation evening was held last Friday wrapping up season 2010-11. With the theme of the evening being TV and Movie Characters our club was suddenly filled with celebrities!!

All batting bowling and fielding trophies were presented with the following players gaining individual recognition for their contribution.

The Club Person of the Year went to Sharon Rattray, Sharon has been a club and competition leader in her coordination and organisation of Women's cricket at the Stingrays. Club President Harvey Jolly said; "Sharon has moved a component of our club to a new level off professionalism, Sharon's contribution to this has been substantial and I beleive is leading the way in Women's cricket administration across the competition.". The award recognises individuals that contribute over and above what is expected, Sharon certainly did this!

SACA recognised 3 of our club stalwarts for 25 years of continous service to cricket, still enjoying themselves, Brian Kerr, Bob Lisle and Harvey Jolly gratefully accepted the the pat on the back for something they love doing

C Grade Skipper Steve Kerr provided a great season of cricket, leading his side to a Grand Final and bowling from the front, 38 wickets @ 7! Recalling a Grand Final that saw the Stingrays run second, Steve made the point we played with a never give in attitude and with a spirit that the club would have been proud of.

A successful B Grade Season was celebrated by the entire club, the inaugural B Grade Grand Final win was one to savour and richly deserved by skipper Jason Riley and the men that he led into battle. Jason Riley said "While the B Grade final victory was a good return for some hard work it was not the main game, for me it is about the players moving forward to gain A Grade success for the club and for themselves, the time has come for A Grade success and we are well placed to achieve this."

Brenton Maiolo was congratulated on his commitment to the role of club curator, the care and work that Brenton put in to preparing wickets during a season that was rain affected on many occasions was appreciated by all, thanks must also go to Rossi Maiolo for all of his support. The club salutes you.

In addition to these awards further special awards including the Presidents Diamond Century Award were given for further on field performances. At the other end of the scale the infamous "Duck Award" was received by Brendan McCormack. Other recipients of the Presidents Diamond Century Award were Paul Roberts, Chris O'Connor, Chad Franchesini, Jamie Robshaw and Justin Ifould.

After a first year that sets the scene for an exciting career Sean McIvor picked up the Eric Gray Rising Star Award. With real impact in a hand full of games and picking up 20 wickets in his A Grade debut year Sean richly deserved this award.

Shaun Tanner picked up the XXXX Cup Player of the Year to add to his SACA Grade Team of the Year recognition. In a rare occurance, Jack Taylor won the Senior Cricketer of the Year, with the majority of his year spent in the B Grade this achievement is quite exceptional, well done Jack!

Simon Roberts reflected on a year that saw the A Grade team complete an eight game winning streak and set its sights on finals, unfortunately this did not transpire and an opportunity to impact South Australian cricket and create further history was lost. With a XXXX Cup semi-final appearance, a strong Twenty-20 showing and a great start to the home and away season the ingredients are certainly there. Club President Harvey Jolly congratulated Simon Roberts on his contribution to our cricket club and made the point that this was clearly seen when he led from the front in the field. This skill and passion for the club was recognised by the umpires and Simon gained the Talbot Smith Trophy for the best fielder in the A Grade competition.
