Ifould Turns Back Clock to Extend Unbeaten Run

Stingray veteran opener Justin Ifould turned back the clock to post his 6th A grade century for Southern District. Chasing Uni's first innings target of 160/9dec, Southern were at their disciplined best as Danny Irvine (74) and Ifould (100*) patiently chipped away at the target. After Irvine swept the ball onto his stumps, Paul Roberts continued his fine form peeling off a quick 35 to see the Stingrays home for there 4th straight win this season, extending an 8 game winning streak lasting back to last season.

Earlier in the match Dean Chambers made short work of Uni's state representatives claiming 5 wickets well supported by Redback Gary Putland who claimed 2 wickets.

In the B's Nick Bowen made an unbeaten 52* to lead the Stingray bats to 175 at Bice oval in a game where Uni certainly could lay claim to the "best" of the wet conditions. A rejuvenated "Frank the Tank" was well supported by Scott Heywood (43) and Jack Taylor (42) in difficult conditions. With the ball Sheidow Park's Jarryd "Jibber" McCormack ran amok claiming his first B grade 5 wicket haul. Daniel Rogers leg spin was crucial in claiming two key wickets to swing the match back to Southern after it appeared as though Uni would cruise to the target.

The C grade achieved an all important outright result in an all round team performance. Stand in skipper Chris O'Connor claimed 4 wickets in the first innings to lead the stingrays to a first innings lead. Keeper Dylan Wright made 42 and was the best of the bats supported by C grade debutant Tom Philips and Jamie Robshaw coming off a fine hundred in round 2. Blake Trigg, Rhys Button and Sean Williams all chipped in with vital 2nd innings wickets as Uni's carefree batting saw them bundled out for just 112, a lead of 62, which the Ray's knocked off with 2 overs to spare.

The D grade again fell well short of anything that could remotely be considered competitive as they lost outright at CBHS. Sent in on a very wet wicket in the first dig, constant wickets saw the side bundled out for just 85, club coach Abe Moore contributing 55. Uni passed the score for just 6 wickets and on day two set a modest lead of 40. This was more than enough in the end as the young Stingray side succumbed for an embarrassing 23 runs. Now at 2-2, the D's will be chasing a much needed victory against East Torrens this week to right the poor showing in the past two matches.
